Host a Pirate Themed Party With an Inflatable Pirate Ship
Ahoy Matey!
With the availability of party rental supplies, you can bring the swashbuckling adventures of the seven seas to your backyard with an inflatable pirate ship! Your little sea dogs will enjoy hours of fun bounding and bouncing their way through a giant inflatable pirate ship, which will be the centerpiece of your awesome pirate party.
Pirate parties give children a chance to dress up like their favorite pirate characters and search for hidden treasure. Here are some tips to make sure your next pirate party is shipshape!
Pirate Party Ideas:
•If you’re handy with wood, you can create a wooden treasure chest and fill it with costume jewelry or fake coins. Check with your local arts and craft stores for pre-crafted wooden chests that you can paint to give them an authentic weathered look. You can also let your children join in the fun by providing a box and colored paper for them to create their own treasure chest to fill with booty during the party.
•Create a series of treasure maps with clues pointing to a secret “buried treasure” hidden in your yard. Each map should include hints leading to the location of the next map and so on until the treasure is found. If you want to add an extra twist, make each piece part of a larger map, which the kids will have to tape together to find the location of the treasure.
•Fill the treasure chest with costume jewelry, small toys or candies that all kids can share.
•Feature a face painting booth to give your little pirates “tattoos”, beards, authentic looking battle scars, beards and moustaches.
•Make your own pirate ship cake. It’s easier than it might look and you can find instructions online.
Cool Costume Ideas:
•Create pirate hats from black construction paper. You can draw a skull and cross bones with white chalk or white or silver markers.
•Create a hook hand using cardboard and tinfoil.
•Eye-patches are a popular pirate accessory. Make sure you have a stash to satisfy your little pirates’ thirst for fun. (Costume shops and online retailers carry an assortment of eye-patches and other pirate gear.)
•Black or red handkerchiefs make great pirate headgear and can be purchased in many retail stores.
• Pirates love jewelry, so make sure you have plenty of the costume variety for your pirates to wear. One online source for pirate “treasure” and other pirate booty is http://deadmentellnotales.com.
•Plastic swords can also be found at many costume shops and some toy stores.
•Don’t forget your Jolly Roger, the pirate’s flag featuring the well-known skull and crossbones. Hang the flag outside your front door the day of the party. You can buy a flag online, create your own with a sewing machine, or craft one from construction paper.
An inflatable pirate ship sets the stage for your next pirate themed party. Your party guests provide the imagination, you provide a few fun props and treats, and the end-result is one swashbuckling pirate party!
