Directions: From Portland take US 26 west approximately 70 miles. Merge North onto US 101 and drive about 4 miles. Seaside is about an hour and a half drive from Portland.

Seaside is THE beach destination for Portland families. Seaside is very popular with families for good reason: There is no shortage of family fun to be had there! At the beach, families can play beach volleyball, enjoy swings and play-sets, have a picnic, build sandcastles, search for shells, fly a kite, sunbathe and take a stroll. A foot wash station is available to rinse the sand off after play is complete. Activities in Seaside abound including a carousel at the Carousel Mall, bumper cars, a museum, an aquarium, surrey and bicycle rentals, an arcade, a movie theater, and more. Shopping is available downtown and at the Seaside Factory Outlet Mall.

Travel tip: On weekends and on beautiful sunny summer days, be sure to arrive in Seaside early to get parking in the public lot. The public lot tends to fill up by lunch.

To make a longer trip, consider returning to Portland from Seaside by following US-101 North to Astoria and take a side trip following the road signs to visit Fort Stevens State Park. Continue to Astoria, then follow US-30 East to Portland. Another option is to travel South on US-101 to Lincoln City and stop by Cannon Beach on the way. From Lincoln City take OR-18/ OR-233 East to OR-99 East. Follow OR-99 East to Tualatin and Interstate 5.
