The Columbia River Gorge extends from the Sandy River nearly 80 miles East to the Deschutes River. The Gorge has some of the area’s most scenic views and hundreds of wilderness areas and recreation destinations. The Historic Columbia River Highway parallels I-84 from Troutdale offering breathtaking views of the Columbia River Gorge along the way.

There are 77 waterfalls on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge. Perhaps the most famous, Multnomah Falls is the second tallest year round waterfall in the nation. The water drops 620 feet from its origin. Multnomah Falls can be viewed from the road and there is parking and trails up the falls. Many more waterfalls can also be viewed from the vehicle or by hiking.
