Cannon Beach is a beautiful community located between the Pacific Ocean and Coastal Mountains. The town has a thriving arts and tourism culture. There are many galleries in town to walk to along with shops, museums and dining. The Cannon Beach Shuttle offers free transportation for residents and visitors between North and South Cannon Beach.

Beachcombers can view the famous Haystack Rock while gathering seashells on the beach. The beach is also a popular place for kite flying and sandcastle building. Nearby recreation areas offer world class surfing.

Outdoor lovers will enjoy visiting nearby Ecola State Park with hiking trails, picnic areas, and a primitive hikers’ camp. Horseback riding on the beach is available from May through Labor Day.

To make a longer trip, consider returning to Portland from Cannon Beach by following US-101 North to Astoria. Stop and visit Seaside along the way. From Astoria follow US-30 East to Portland. Another option is to travel South on US-101 to Lincoln City. From Lincoln City take OR-18/ OR-233 East to OR-99 East. Follow OR-99 East to Tualatin and Interstate 5.
