This Sunday is Father’s Day. I do not know what I am going to do for my husband. I am working most of the day, so I can’t do much. Perhaps I’ll make him breakfast or something. I have an idea for a gift for my own dad, but I need to make it, so I hope I can find the time.
What are you planning on doing for Father’s Day? Barbecues are popular with most dads. Both my dad and my husband love hamburgers and steaks off the grill.
If the weather cooperates, this might be a nice weekend to go camping. In fact, Oregon Parks has special Lets Go Camping activities at the Cove Palisades over the weekend. If you’d rather camp indoors, the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport is having a Father’s Day sleepover Saturday night.
Father’s Day might be a good day to visit a museum like the Oregon History Museum or OMSI. Dads get in free at AC Gilbert’s Discovery Museum in honor of the holiday. The Portland Art Museum has a family tour scheduled. One of my dad’s favorite destinations around here is Antique Powerland, a museum full of old tractors, steam engines and power equipment. As an added bonus, the Pacific Northwest Truck Museum, the Northwest Vintage Car and Motorcycle Museum, and the Pacific Northwest Logging Museum are all located on the same property. The Evergreen Aviation Museum and Pearson Air Museum are a couple of his other favorites.
Some dad’s would prefer to watch sports while others want to get out and play sports. My dad likes to play baseball on Sundays, so there is a good chance that he will be out with his brothers and sons this weekend playing the game. I hope he is, because it is what he likes to do.
Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads out there. I hope you have a great one!
