Top 5 Portland Party Catering Tips
Are you trying to figure out what to do for your next event in Portland? If catering has not already crossed your mind, it is likely to become a prominent need once serious party plans begin.
All types of events are being catered these days, from baby showers to weddings and even retirement parties. Catering is the perfect solution to any event because it takes the worry and hassles out of your hands and places it in the care of a professional. Here are a few things to think about when picking your next party caterer in Portland.
1.Type of Event – Will this be a formal event with evening gowns or a relaxed atmosphere with flip-flops and jeans? Most catering companies can match the tone and theme of whatever party you throw. Make sure that the caterers you are interviewing can tie in to your vision as you see it.
2.Season – What time of year will you hold this event? Will the caterer provide a shelter on those rainy Portland afternoons or perhaps giant umbrellas on those sunny days? Ask if the caterer will be able to provide materials to keep the food in prime condition or if you will be responsible.
3.Taste – Big time important. Make sure you ask to look at a menu and to taste some of the food that will be catered at your event unless you are already familiar with the caterer. The last thing you want to happen is to order food that does not taste right.
4.Time of Day – Breakfast, lunch or dinner? What time of day are you planning on catering your party? Make sure you plan accordingly. If you have any questions, your caterer should be able to point you to a suitable menu.
5.Think Outside the Box – Try something different like a Tapas bar or a Mongolian grill type setting where everyone can add what they like for a creation of their own. Would a different fondue pot at each table suite your needs? Allow your mind to stretch a bit.
Catering should provide you the opportunity to enjoy your own party. As with any entertainment, make sure you have a contract and have done enough research to make you feel comfortable; it never hurts to ask one more question.
Be sure to bring up the policy on silverware and glassware damages, clean-up and tear-down rules and ask for references; anyone who takes pride in making customers happy should have a laundry list of names and numbers.
Just remember, it’s your party, you shouldn’t have to cry if you don’t want to.
