Bowling Birthday Party at Kellogg Bowl

May 8, 2010

Children’s birthday parties are a lot of work for whoever is hosting them. After year’s of holding her sons’ parties at her own house, this year Michelle decided she wasn’t going to do it. No more working all day to get the house ready. No more worrying about the damage the guests would inflict. No more spending the next day cleaning up. And definitely no more worrying about whether or not the kid’s would have a good time at the party. This year would be the boys’ best birthday party ever. This year, they were going to have their party at the bowling alley.

I was delighted when Michelle called and invited us to attend the party. My husband, Brian, just bought a new bowling ball that he hadn’t had a chance to use yet. This would be a great opportunity for him to try out his new ball before his summer league started. My 7 month old son Alex often attends bowling with Brian, serving as a team mascot of sorts. I am not much of a bowler myself, but it’s always fun to go to a party.

Kellogg Bowl, located at 10306 SE Main St, is one of two bowling alleys in Milwaukie. It is a relatively small alley with an arcade and tables. The bowling alley is clearly a popular venue for portland birthday parties as there were two other birthday parties held concurrently with ours. There was not a separate party room, so we picked the tables at the far end of the alley in order to have space between our party and the other birthday parties. The party included 2 lanes for the kids to bowl.

The bowling alley’s party package was pretty bare bones, so decorations, utensils, napkins, plates, and food were not included. The bowling alley does not have a restaurant, but the alley is located next door to a delicious pizza parlor. A menu and a phone with a direct line to the parlor is hanging on the wall at the alley. We had pizza from the pizza parlor at our party. Another party brought their own sandwiches.

The kids had a wonderful time playing at the arcade and bowling. It should probably be noted though that shoe rental was also not included with the party. Brian, his dad, and I got our own lane and bowled a couple games while the kids were bowling. Alex got passed around as babies do and had a great time. We had cake, the boys opened their gifts, and by then Alex was tired and grumpy and it was time to go home.

Bowling alleys are just one of many locations where parents can hold birthday parties. Inflatable Kingdom offers all sorts of private birthday party packages at our fun facility or if you are looking for something different, check our Kid’s Guide for all sorts of great party ideas.
