Read Across America Day – Book Exchange!

Read Across America Day was founded in 1997 by the National Education Foundation to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday (although, it is being celebrated on March 1 in 2013, instead of March 2- his actual birthday to make sure that the holiday will fall on a school day for most students).

It seems appropriate that our whimsical bouncy houses pay homage to the whimsical poet with a fantastic celebration of his very own holiday. We decided the best way to do this is to host a literarily focused Open Play for all your little readers.

Our staff is busy preparing for our Read Across America Day open play. We will be hosting a RAAD book exchange where you can get to know other people’s favorite books as you pass on the stories you have loved. To add to the excitement of this wonderful celebration we will be giving away free coloring books to each bouncing reader that hops on in that day. In addition to having a great time and discovering new books, this is also a great way to give back to your community. Any books left over at the end of the book exchange will be donated to the Lake Oswego Public Library to help grow their children’s and young adult book collection.

Tickets are $5 in advance on our website, $8 at the door, or deeply discounted with our Open Play Value Passes. Be sure to stop in for an amazing day of bouncing, discovering new books and great coloring books. Lake Oswego Schools will be out that day so this is a great opportunity for you to keep your little one focused on reading on this important holiday without school.
